Adria MTG is a free Magic: The Gathering toolkit with AI coaching. Draft against 7 AI opponents with real Standard-legal cards, brew Commander decks with AI-powered suggestions, or explore the Standard metagame with tier lists and archetype analysis. The AI coach explains every pick: not just what to take, but why.

AI Coaching

Adria MTG's coaching uses AI to evaluate your picks in real time. The system provides three types of feedback:

Pick Grades: Every pick receives a rule-based letter grade (A+ to F) based on card quality, color fit, and draft context. This is always available — it never costs a whistle.
Analysis (uses a whistle): Post-pick AI explanation covering what made the pick good or bad, what alternatives existed, and strategic implications.
Thinking Guide (uses a whistle):Pre-pick questions that walk you through the key considerations for a pack — curve, color signals, BREAD, Quadrant Theory — and always end with a direct pick recommendation so you're never left without an answer.

Free accounts include 7 whistles per draft. When whistles run out, pick grades remain visible on every pick but the AI-powered Analysis and Thinking Guide are unavailable until the next draft. Pro removes the cap. Coaching also supports your own API key via Settings.

How Scoring Works

Every pick is scored 0–10 using contextual, rank-based evaluation that factors in your current draft state.

Pack Analysis

Every card in the pack is scored for your specific draft: base power plus bonuses for color fit, synergy, and mana curve gaps.

Pick Scoring

Your pick is ranked against all other cards in the pack. Taking the best available card scores a 10; taking the worst scores a 0. This is a measure of decision quality, not absolute card power — the best card in a weak pack still scores a 10.

Draft Grade

Your score maps to a letter grade (A+ through F) and averages across all 42 picks to produce your overall draft grade. A high draft grade means you consistently chose the best available option — the AI coach’s commentary adds context when a high grade came from a limited pack.

Color commitment is open through picks 1–7 by default; from pick 8 the engine rewards staying in your developing colors and applies escalating penalties for off-color picks. The window is format-calibrated: high-power formats like Modern Horizons 3 stay open until pick 9, while heavily synergistic formats may commit as early as pick 6. When a color-commitment penalty is applied to a pick, the coaching explanation will say so.

Getting Started

Choose a set: Pick any Standard-legal set from the home page. Card data loads directly from Scryfall.
Draft your deck: Pick one card from each pack of 14. Packs rotate between you and 7 AI drafters, just like a real 8-player pod.
Get AI coaching: Toggle coaching on to receive pick grades, analysis, and thinking prompts. The coach explains why picks are strong or weak - without just telling you the answer.
Build your deck: After 42 picks, build a 40-card deck from your pool. Use auto-build for a quick start, or fine-tune it yourself.
Review and improve: Check your pick-by-pick history, deck analysis, and overall draft grade.

Why "Adria"?

Adria MTG is named after my cat Adria, who was the best companion I could have asked for. She kept me company through countless drafts and deckbuilding sessions, and this project is a small tribute to her.

I built Adria MTG because I wanted to get better at drafting and deckbuilding in Magic, and I couldn't find a tool that gave me the kind of feedback I was looking for. So I built one. My hope is that sharing it helps other players improve their game too.

Data Sources

Adria MTG pulls from several external sources to power its draft engine and coaching:

Scryfall: All card data — names, text, mana costs, art, and legality — comes from the Scryfall API. Pack generation and card display depend entirely on Scryfall's database.
17Lands: Draft performance statistics (e.g. Game-in-Hand win rate, pick rate, and other play metrics) are sourced from 17Lands where available. These stats enrich the AI coaching signal and card evaluation during draft — they complement, rather than replace, the app's own draft-state logic.
