How whistles work
A whistle is consumed by two AI coaching modes: the Thinking Guide (pre-pick Socratic questions) and the Analysis (post-pick AI explanation). Every pick always shows a rule-based Quick Score — a letter grade (A+ to F) — which is free and never counts against your whistle total. When free-tier whistles run out, Quick Score grades remain visible on every pick but the AI-powered modes are unavailable until the next draft.
Free accounts get seven whistles per draft, while Pro removes that cap. Any logged-in user can add their own OpenRouter or Anthropic API key in Settings — BYOK is available on all plans and routes model costs directly to your provider instead of counting against your whistle balance. Premium adds advanced model selection (GPT-4o, Claude Opus) on top of that.

Do I need to pay to draft?
No. Drafting, deck review, and the core product stay free. Billing only affects hosted coaching tiers, higher whistle limits, and future Premium features.
What if I already pay for OpenRouter or Anthropic?
You can configure your API key in Settings on any plan — including Free. When you use your own key, model costs route to your provider instead of counting against your whistle balance. Premium adds access to advanced model selection (GPT-4o, Claude Opus, and others) on top of that.
How are MagicCon promo codes applied?
Enter the promo code before checkout. Adria validates it server-side and passes the linked Stripe coupon into the checkout session, so the discount is already attached when Stripe opens.
